Abstract
In quantum photonics, the frequency domain can serve as a synthetic dimension, offering advantages over the spatial and time domains for quantum information processing. Quantum frequency conversion is the process by which the wavelength of a quantum light field is converted to another wavelength, enabling operation in the frequency domain.
I will describe our recent research that uses the nonlinear optical process of four-wave mixing to achieve ultralow-noise quantum frequency conversion with efficiencies approaching 100%. Such a nonlinear process allows us to use the frequency domain as a synthetic dimension to demonstrate frequency qubits, Hong-Ou-Mandel interference, quantum communication, and an N-way beamsplitter.
