The LMI community gathered in Ein Gedi on September 16-17 for its annual retreat, with a record 95 participants joining this year's event. Combining science, community, and the unique surroundings of the Dead Sea region, the retreat brought together students and researchers from across the Center's research groups.

The retreat began with a morning visit to Nahal Arugot and the ancient synagogue of Ein Gedi, before turning to two intensive days of scientific discussions and presentations.

From Desert to Discovery

The scientific program opened with a lecture by Dr. Ran Finkelstein, "Quantum Science with Arrays of Alkaline Earth Atoms," followed by 17 student presentations representing the different research groups of the Light-Matter Interaction Center.

From nonlinear and quantum optics to plasmonics, polaritonics, 2D materials, and biophotonics, the presentations reflected the remarkable range of research taking place across LMI, and offered an opportunity to exchange ideas, discover new directions, and strengthen connections within the Center's scientific community.
